PRECISION LINEAR SYSTEMS, INC
PLS has developed, a very low cost, high accuracy temperature measurement assembly for the Industrial Temperature Probe Industry. Low cost manufacturing of the assembly is achieved by using surface mounted sensor and transmitter components on a flexible circuit substrate, and using the flex to connect the sensor to the transmitter. Manufacturing cost is further reduced by making and testing multiple assemblies together on one flex panel. Because the sensor and transmitter are made on the same flex substrate, they are a “matched set” which significantly improves the temperature measurement accuracy. Both the sensor and the transmitter are calibrated and set over their full operating temperature at test, which provides full system accuracy that is significantly better than the IEC 751 Class A accuracy.
The PLS sensor + transmitter assembly fits into either a DIN Form B transmitter case or a minature transmitter case. An injection molded DIN Form B “hockey puck” style case for the PLS assembly allows the probe manufacturer to make complete 4-20 mA output temperature probes that fit in standard connection heads for the industrial control applications. An injection molded miniature transmitter case for the PLS assembly allows the probe manufacture to make complete 4-20 mA probes for wall mount or duct mount HVAC applications.
PLS moved into its new headquarters in the heart of Silicon Valley in Cupertino, California in August 2005. The headquarters houses the Design, Development, Sales and Marketing activities while manufacturing is done at qualified vendors. With its innovative low cost assembly and test techniques, PLS is able to manufacture in the USA.
PLS expects pilot production in Q2 2008 with full production scheduled for Q3 2008.
